Who We Are

Self Storage Coolum is owned and operated by Nigel and Casey Crockett, who purchased the facility in September 2025 from Glenn and Suzette — who spent 15 years building one of the most trusted small storage facilities on the Sunshine Coast. We live on site. When you call, you’re speaking directly with the owners. When you visit, you’ll likely see one of us out in the yard. That’s just how we operate.

Our Industry Membership

Self Storage Coolum is a proud member of the Self Storage Association of Australasia (SSAA) — the peak industry body representing storage facilities across Australia and New Zealand. SSAA membership isn’t automatic. Members are held to a strict code of conduct and the highest standards of professionalism, security and customer care. For you as a customer, it means you’re storing with a facility that is accountable to an independent industry body — not just our own word. Nigel also brings over 25 years of experience in the removals and storage industry, giving Self Storage Coolum a depth of professional knowledge that few small facilities can match.

Nigel’s Background

Nigel brings a genuinely rare combination of hands-on experience to Self Storage Coolum. He spent the better part of two decades working in the removals and storage industry across Asia — based in China, Hong Kong and Malaysia from 2004 through to 2019. During that time he worked at every level of the industry, developing deep expertise in logistics, storage operations and customer service across some of the world’s most demanding markets. When the situation in Hong Kong became increasingly unsettled in 2019, Nigel and Casey made the decision to return to Australia and put down roots closer to home. Back in Australia, Nigel took on the role of Chief Commercial Officer at a national removals company based in Melbourne, overseeing commercial operations across the country. During COVID, Nigel founded his own boutique digital marketing agency specialising in the removals and transport industry — combining his deep industry knowledge with a passion for technology and digital strategy. He also spent time working as a chef earlier in his career, which perhaps explains the care and attention to detail he brings to everything he does. In 2022, one of his digital marketing clients asked Nigel to relocate to Brisbane and take on the General Manager role for their removals business. That business was subsequently acquired by Conroy Removals in 2025. While working with Conroy, Nigel began discussions with Glenn and Suzette about purchasing Self Storage Coolum — and in September 2025, the deal was done.

Casey’s Role

Casey works alongside Nigel day to day — maintaining the containers, keeping the facility in top condition, and helping manage both Self Storage Coolum and the neighbouring Self Storage Mate property. Between them, they ensure the facility is always clean, secure and well presented. If you visit, you’ll see the difference that hands-on owners make.

Continuing a Great Legacy

Glenn and Suzette built something genuinely special over 15 years — a small facility with a big reputation for personal service, cleanliness and security. We were determined to continue that legacy and build on it. Our Google reviews suggest we’re on the right track. We’re proud members of the Coolum Beach community and committed to being a storage facility that locals can trust for years to come.

A Note About Our Residents

Shortly after taking over the facility, we were delighted to discover that a family of Eastern Water Dragons had made their home beneath our shipping containers. We consider them part of the team — natural pest control that keeps the facility completely bug-free. They’re a little shy, and you’ll need to be stealthy to see them, but if you spot one during your visit, legend has it that’s good luck for the rest of your day.
